Wilder Suits Get Pricey 

Mounting outside legal fees related to the handful of lawsuits filed by Richmond City Council and the Richmond School Board against Mayor L. Douglas Wilder are officially within spitting distance of the million-dollar mark.

As of last week, the running tally maintained by City Attorney Norman Sales' office had reached $802,283.88. The City Attorney's Office has paid four separate city law firms to handle the suits because of its own conflict in the cases.

In November, Sales announced that his office was out of funds to pay for outside legal counsel.
