Drawing straight from the outlaw influence of Waylon Jennings, David Allan Coe and Merle Haggard, Michigan's Whitey Morgan and the 78's soak themselves in the alcohol of working-class honky-tonk bars. Nothing speaks more plainly about just where this band is coming from than on its lead single, appropriately titled, “I Ain't Drunk” (the tune's refrain successfully clarifies, “I ain't drunk, I've just been drinking”). Presenting themselves without apology and perfect line-dancing swagger, Whitey Morgan and the 78's are scheduled to perform at Shenanigans on Friday, Jan. 7, at 8:30 p.m.
