Welcome Back, Joe, But Get Law Straight
Glad to see Joe Morrissey is back ("Prodigal Joe," Cover Story, Jan. 23). Everyone deserves a second chance. There are many positive things Joe can do in the General Assembly to help all Virginians. Winning support for a bill to mandate vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) for school-age girls is one of them.
However, "voicing support for an abortion regulation bill" is more of the religious war against women. Women do not need to be regulated. Does Joe need a refresher course in American constitutional law before his law license can be restored? Can Joe's drive to practice law again overcome a gender-based government control of one-half of our population?
The constituents in the predominantly black 74th District that elected Joe are among those who are the hardest hit by government intrusion into daily lives. Fight for them Joe -- not against them.
