Fire, Flour and Fork Returns, Julep's Re-Opens + More

Early bird: The full schedule will be released and VIP tickets will go on sale June 15 for the foodie love fest, Fire, Flour and Fork, to be held from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1. A VIP ticket offers access to all the events at the symposium, and gives ticketholders first dibs on chef dinners and events, most of which sold out quickly — too quickly for a lot of us — last year. fireflourandfork.com.

Buttery and delicious: New bakery Whisk will fill the old Globehopper Coffeehouse space in Shockoe Bottom this fall. Expect coffee along with sweet and savory French pastries — owner Morgan Botwinick is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute, now the International Culinary Center. Botwinick might be familiar to you. She’s been a regular, as Sugar Baking Co., at the Farmers Market at St. Stephen’s. whiskrva.com.

Openings: Julep’s New American Southern Cuisine opened the doors to its new sophisticated spot at 420 E. Grace St. It has a new chef, too: Matthew Tlusty, of the now closed Limani Fish Grill, the Dining Room at the Berkeley Hotel and most recently the executive chef at downtown’s Hilton Garden Inn. … Ciao Capri is open in the old Accanto space at 10478 Ridgefield Parkway. … Sabai, a Thai food spot from the owner of My Noodle Bar & Bar, has opened at 2727 W. Broad St.

Pig love: The chocolate-bacon pops and maple-bacon lattes are hot commodities at the third annual Bacon Festival, happening Sunday, June 14, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the 17th Street Farmers’ Market. Details on Page 24. enrichmond.org/event/3rd-annual-bacon-festival.
