Emerging from the success of the Velvet Marias, local rock band Vexine took Richmond by storm in 2011 with its unique blend of rock and soul mixed with a punk edge. While still new to the scene, Vexine has already begun making a name for itself after only a few gigs at places such as Cafe Diem with original songs that get the crowd excited and a wide repertoire of covers from artists such as Cab Calloway, the Black Keys and Adele. The group is in the process of recording its debut album for a late 2012 release. Vexine performs at City Dogs in the Fan on Saturday, May 5, at 10 p.m. Free. 343-3647.
