I was born and raised in Richmond and love the place. Anyway, I have been a die-hard Van Halen fan for years, but this whole Michael Anthony thing has pissed me off to the point that I wouldn't see them if they paid me ("Fair Warning," Arts & Culture, Aug. 22).
How can you put your 16-year-old kid in place of Mike, someone the hardcore fans dearly love? I'll be boycotting it just for that alone. I'm glad Dave's back, but this is just too much. I rode out the singer changes, but this takes the cake!
I don't know if you have heard the hubbub about the album cover doctoring of the first album -- they took Mike off and put Wolfie on. That's another reason I won't be going. Yeah, they put it up on their Web site before us fans raised hell, so they were forced pretty much to put it back. Great band they are getting to be, aren't they?Tom Rice
I respect your right to say anything you like about the Van Halen "Reunion," but why the negativity? Times change, people change why can't they be better than they were (or as good) in the old days? I, for one, am a lot better at most everything I do versus 20 years ago.
And Eddie doesn't abuse cocaine. Why would you feel like you could just say that?
I have some advice: Don't go to a Van Halen show. You obviously have a preconceived notion about the quality of their work. Do you go to a restaurant thinking, "This food is going to suck"?
And please let the rest of us know when it's time to get old and sit around the house taking Viagra. Because, according to you, life ends after 1984.John Yuhas
