Upon a Burning Body at Kingdom

Wednesday, Sept. 28

In a time where local music venues are shutting down left and right (take a moment of silence for the Triple, Plaza Bowl, Sprout, the Hospital and Grandpa Eddie’s), a venue once thought dead and gone is coming back to life. Alley Katz, the former Shockoe Bottom nightclub, closed last year because of tax issues. But the venue is back with a new name — Kingdom — and it boasts a bursting fall schedule, featuring such big names as Helloween and the Misfits and numerous other punk and metal acts. Keeping with the former space’s loud and boisterous aesthetic, the metal band Upon a Burning Body (pictured) will play at Kingdom’s first show on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. $10. kingdomrva.com.
