Umphrey's McGee, the band with a reputation for jamming out to 20-minute songs and losing itself in guitar chords and melodic lyrics, has brought a new product to the table with the new album, “Mantis.” The album, recorded over a leisurely 20 months with close, long-term friends, gives listeners a different sound filled with trimmed down versions of improvised guitar jams and a jazzy merge of piano and percussion. Richmond gets a visit from the Windy City locals at Groovin' in the Garden on Thursday, June 25, at 6 p.m. $20. 262-9887. www.groovininthegarden.com.
