If you were to twist it far enough, Clement Moore's 1823 poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” can read like an eyewitness police report from some bizarre home invasion. Maybe it's because he's the only burglar ever to leave items rather than take them that most Americans hold little animosity toward the greatest perpetrator of the break-in. Essentially responsible for the modern depiction of Santa Claus, from his rotund physical appearance to his antlered mode of transportation and girth-squeezing gymnastics down the flue, the timeless holiday poem receives the musical stage treatment when Theatre IV On Tour presents “'Twas the Night Before Christmas,” at Henrico Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
