Nicholas Williams, better known as Trinidad James, found his way to the mainstream after his video for “All Gold Everything,” off his 2012 debut mix tape, “Don’t Be S.A.F.E.,” (Sensitive As Fuck Everyday) became a viral hit on YouTube. After quickly charting on the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B/Hip-Hop charts, the song earned James a major record deal with Def Jam Recordings, which plans to re-release “Don’t Be S.A.F.E.” this year with new remixes and additional verses from guests such as T.I., Young Jeezy and 2 Chainz. Trinidad James performs at the National on Sunday, March 3, at 8 p.m. $20-$25. thenationalva.com.
