"Burn Candles"

Chesterfield County native Hugo Haggie recorded his recent EP, "... it heals nothing," with drummer and producer Miguel Urbiztondo at Sound of Music studios, not long after returning from Boston, where he graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. An undeniable highlight of Haggie's fine debut EP is a cover of "Burn Candles," a formerly unreleased song by the late Bryan Harvey. "I loved his [demo] version," says Haggie, a huge fan of Harvey's former band, House of Freaks, "but I didn't want to do it the same way." Since his return home, the 27-year-old, who can play a variety of instruments, has loaned his string-bending skills to numerous Sound of Music projects; the focus now is on writing songs for a full-length CD, tentatively scheduled for later this year.
