Toubab Krewe at Capital Ale House

Before the preppy, indie rock of Vampire Weekend began applying its witty charm to Afro-pop melodies, instrumental quintet Toubab Krewe was already well on its way to experimenting with the likes of African-inspired rhythms, going as far as visiting the continent itself to work and study the musical tradition with local artists. Earning a devoted following playing Bonnaroo and other festivals around the United States, you can see the band on the road supporting its latest album, “Live at the Orange Peel,” at Capital Ale House on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 8 p.m. $10. 780-2537. — Mike Hilleary
