Teenagers aren't typically lauded for their resourcefulness, unless of course they're being referenced for their uncanny ability to do things they shouldn't. In the redeemable minority are the students of the Thomas Dale High School orchestra, who for the third year in a row find themselves pooling their promotional and performance know-how with a special benefit concert, raising money for the Central Virginia Food Bank and UNICEF. With its student-arranged play list featuring such songs as U2's “Beautiful Day” and Coldplay's “Fix You,” and supported by Richmond-based musical artist Jeanine Guidry and her band Offering, this stringed battle against hunger starts Friday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Thomas Dale High School. $10. 3626 W. Hundred Road, Chester. Call 768-6245 or visit www.rock4lifeconcert.com. — Mike Hilleary
