• Steven Spielberg attended the 11 a.m. Yom Kippur service at Congregation Beth Ahabah — bodyguards in tow — on Saturday, Oct. 8.

• “Breaking Bad” actor David Costabile, who’s playing abolitionist congressman James Ashley, was seen at Sam Miller’s in Shockoe Slip.

• Gloria Reuben, best known for her long-running role on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” came into Sidewalk Café the afternoon of Oct. 11 for a black-bean quesadilla, day manager Iris Sun Kelley reports.

• David Strathairn was studying his script at Belvidere at Broad on Thursday, Oct. 13. He has a major role as Secretary of State William Seward, who becomes Lincoln’s closest ally.
