“This American Life — Live” at the Modlin Center

National Public Radio’s popular “This American Life” moves from the airwaves to the movie screen for a special show. A staged production premiered in New York on May 10, and now 500 movie theaters across North America get to experience it. Host Ira Glass (pictured) and popular contributors David Sedaris, David Rakoff and “Snap Judgment” host Glynn Washington combine to present the engrossing stories that are unique to the program. The filmed performance also includes live music by OK Go, a new short by Mike Birbiglia, comedy by Tig Notaro, dance by Monica Bill Barnes and Co., original animation, projected illustration and surprise guests. “This American Life — Live” hits the screen at University of Richmond’s Modlin Center on Thursday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. $10-$14. 289-8980.
