Classically trained vocalist Eleanor Kleiner and French bassist Elie Brangbour met in London, traveled through South America and China and finally made New York their home. Under the name the Whispering Tree, the two bring their talents and world experience together to produce finely crafted indie-folk music in the vein of Neko Case and Brandi Carlile. The group’s full-length album “Go Call the Captain” has caught the attention of critics, who credit them with creating some of the best indie music in a long while. The Whispering Tree performs at Globehopper Coffee on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. Free. 523-8083.
