Imagine going to Sweet Frog and pulling all the levers, then shoveling on every topping to create a sweet, sloppy mountain of awesome. That’s the River City Shreds Music Festival — except instead of fro-yo, it’s Richmond rock. Twenty-seven bands play during the course of two days in this all-local music marathon. Splendid Suns, Red States, Murphy’s Kids and others perform at the Camel on Friday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. $7. Thirteen local bands, including Lorem Ipsum, Trustfall, Cheyenne and Folk the System, perform at Kingdom on Saturday, Sept. 15, at noon. $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Also on Saturday, nine more bands, including Close Talker and Ratmeat, play McCormack’s Irish Pub at 7 p.m. $6, or free with ticket to the Kingdom show. rivercityshreds.com.
