The enduring genius of Kiss was its assimilation of P.T. Barnum’s greatest show on earth with live rock performance. Alice Cooper and David Bowie may have done it first, but it was the Knights in Satan’s Service who proved there was a sucker born every second. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus carries on the great American tradition of sucker-making for a five-night stand at the Richmond Coliseum starting Wednesday. With an onslaught of (debatable)animal varieties, high-wire performers, clowns and festive eye candies, the incarnation of Barnum’s show is sure to please the whole family. As is tradition, there will be too much entertainment to take in, but that’s the enduring appeal — blink and you just might miss something. The circus comes to town from Feb. 26 to March 2. Tickets are $28-$146. For show times, call 780-4970 or go to richmondcoliseum.net. — Chris Bopst
