For those not in the know, a ’zine is an independently created publication containing content as wide-ranging as political ideologies, fiction and concert stories. And a ’zine fest is an event where creators get together to sell and trade these small publications. The Richmond ’Zine Fest has been going strong since 2007, and this year promises to bring together even more ’zinesters and creative people. The affair also offers informative and fun workshops throughout the day, including topics including how to make a do-it-yourself publication and how to get it distributed. The Richmond ’Zine Fest takes place at the Gay Community Center of Richmond on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free. richmondzinefest.org.
