The Resonant Rogues at Crossroads Coffee and Ice Cream

Wednesday, Aug. 27. 8 p.m.

Want to hear the melting pot that’s the ongoing cultural experiment known as the United States of America? Then you should listen to the Resonant Rogues. The Asheville, N.C., group blends Balkan, klezmer, gypsy, hot jazz and old-time influences to create a genre-blending music that couldn’t happen anywhere else. The star of the show is the group’s principal songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Sparrow. The band’s approach is vaudevillian. Her playful style binds their stylistic and emotional variations together with wit, charm and sass. Making the old new again is a feat most bands can’t pull off, but the Resonant Rogues make it sound effortless. They play Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Crossroads Coffee and Ice Cream. The music starts at 8 p.m. Free. crossroadsrva.com.
