"The Rescue of Joseph Kony's Child Soldiers" at the Byrd Theatre

"Save the Byrd, Save a Life," a project of an elective class at Robious Middle School, screens the documentary "The Rescue of Joseph Kony's Child Soldiers" to benefit the Byrd Theatre locally as well as an international charity.
From the $5 admission, available 30 minutes before the 5 p.m. showing, $2 goes to the Byrd and $3 goes to Invisible Children, which is helping rebuild Robious Middle's partner school in Uganda, Lacor Secondary. Proceeds also help provide shelter and school fees for the children orphaned from the war.
"This campaign was started by a group of Robious students ... upon learning of the plight of children in Uganda and its neighboring countries due to the Lord's Resistance Army, led by a man named Joseph Kony," Robious teacher Lisa Caruso says in a release. "The afflicted children whom inspired the Invisible Children's cause are abducted while they sleep in their villages by the LRA, where they are forced to kill or be killed."
