The Price of Money

Two Petersburg art exhibits show us the face of money in the South.

Angela M. Orrell's photography show at the Petersburg Area Art League Gallery, "From the Seed to the Hand," captures the lives on a tobacco-farm in Dinwiddie County. From the landowners to the workers, Orrell's photographic documentary, printed on a textured fiber, and the essays that accompany it illustrate the generations-old methods of harvesting a plant that is as much a symbol of the economy as the Confederate currency once was. The PAAL Gallery show runs through Aug. 7. 861-4611. — Brandon Reynolds
