In 1763, in a court case known as the Parsons' Cause, which took place in the same courthouse, Patrick Henry was thrust into the forefront of colonial legal and political circles by challenging the authority of the Church of England and the king. Audience members are encouraged to participate by assuming roles of jurors, ministers, parties to the case, or justices.
