Growing up, you always had that one friend who would look at a ramp and an available gap and say, “I could jump that.” While broken limbs would seem to be heavy deterrents for most kids, you knew these adrenaline seeking nutters would only get more excited as they got older doing something bigger, faster and with a bigger risk. Among such trick-based activities as skateboarding, mountain biking, snowboarding and skiing, freestyle motocross holds a particularly special place on the extreme sports crazy scale. Sure it's one thing to go against the laws of gravity. It's another thing entirely doing it with 200 lbs. of metal clamped between your legs on the crash landing. Consistently throwing common sense out the window are the Nuclear Cowboyz, an assemblage of some the world's greatest freestyle motocross riders. Scheduled to bring plenty of jaw-dropping stunts and entertainment, these counter-culture acrobats are set to perform at the Richmond Coliseum for two nights on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 8 and 9, at 7:30 p.m. $25-$46.
