The New Familiars at the Triple

The Charlotte-based New Familiars deliver exactly what their name promises: deep-rooted classic folk music blended with modern bluegrass and honky-tonk acoustics. The five-piece labels its music “folk core” for its foundation in folk music — but it's easily distinguishable from artists such as Ryan Adams and Woody Guthrie. The New Familiars play the Triple on Thursday, Dec. 18, at 10 p.m. 359-7777. — Alexander Chang
