The metal-core band Killswitch Engage managed to cross into the mainstream by touring with Slayer and playing the smaller stage at Ozzfest -- but it never lost its underground edge. The band's fourth album, "As Daylight Dies," hits as hard as any other, with Howard Jones' epic vocals above Justin Foley's unusual metal drumbeats. The 11-song album is a strong fusion of aggression, melody, rock and metal, and the group's live show might knock your teeth down your throat. KsE plays with Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die and Parkway Drive Saturday, Feb 2, at 6:30 p.m. at Toad's Place. $25-$28. 648-TOAD.
