Henley Street Theatre’s production of “The Liar” features Dorante, played by Matthew Mitchell, as a charming, handsome pathological liar. When Dorante meets two women in Paris, he comes up with an outrageous lie in order to avoid having to marry one of them. The lies continue while he tries to keep his stories straight when interacting with the girl’s father, his servant and numerous other characters. Dorante’s embellishments of the truth lead him into some situations that are uncomfortable — yet hilarious to the audience. “The Liar” opens at Richmond CenterStage on April 5 at 8 p.m., and runs through April 28. $25-$35. henleystreettheatre.org.
