As if the capital were lacking in signature venues to plant your rear and take in a show, nestled within the Manchester Residential and Commercial Historic District comes the Dogtown Dance Theatre. Sure to benefit all those South Siders who find it a tad inconvenient to cross the James River for professionally staged entertainment, the new theater kicks things off in style with a two-weekend grand opening. With scheduled performances by Ground Zero Dance, community master classes, guest speakers and a street fair of local music and community causes such as Farm to Family and Books on Wheels, the former Bainbridge Junior High School gymnasium welcomes its introductory audience May 20-22 and May 27-29.
