She was only 19 when she came to Richmond, but the incomparable Stella Dikos (left in 1999) ascended to the culinary firmament when she and her husband shed the Village Café and opened the original Stella's on Harrison Street in the '80s. The restaurant business always has been a family affair, and aided by her daughter and son-in-law, Katrina and Johnny Giavos (above at Sidewalk Cafe in 1999), a move to Main Street pushed Stella into the goddess category in the collective imagination of Richmond diners. She still keeps her hand in at 3 Monkeys and Kitchen 64, and customers line up to taste whatever Greek specialties she has cooking.
