The Dimmer Twins at Ipanema

A blue-collar parody of the Mick Jagger and Keith Richards production moniker the Glimmer Twins, the Dimmer Twins may not have the fame and fortune of rock’s most famous and long-lasting couple, but they do have a more countrified, acoustic blues rock about them than the Stones currently do. A side project of Richmond rockers Jon Brown and Kevin Wade Inge, their rustic “Exile on Main Street” inclinations are dirty nail confessions of the working man. With two acoustic guitars and their voices, Brown and Wade make simple music that isn’t stupid. Forsaking the bombast they employ with their full-time band, Horsehead, the Dimmer Twins’ tunes breathe with a last-call inwardness that has no time for frivolous flights of fancy. If you’re downright disgusted with life, be sure to see the world through the Dimmer Twins’ eyes. They play Sunday, March 2, at Ipanema. The music starts at 10 p.m. Free. ipanemaveg.com.— Chris Bopst
