Former Taking Back Sunday guitarist Fred Mascherino keeps himself hard-wired into his fans' social network. Whether he's blogging entries on his MySpace page, chatting online via Web cam, giving out a free pair of tickets to every show during his tour with Hawthorne Heights and Emery, or letting his band name, the Color Fred, be picked through a fan-based Internet poll, Mascherino tries to keep things as inclusive as possible. Looking to add a few more friends willing to listen to its rousing rock sound, expect Hawthorne Heights to test new material from its 2007 debut “Bend to Break” at the National on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m. Opener is Emery. $18-$21. 612-1900. — Alexander Chang
