The Artistic Body

It's nearly impossible to find something as simultaneously seductive and repulsive as the human body. No matter how much we understand the molecular science of our composition, the blobby forces beyond our vision still seem to embody life's biggest mystery. In a triad of blood, bone and body, Ebony Patterson from Kingston, Jamaica, Lisa Kellner (whose work is pictured) from Richmond and Brooke Hine from Philadelphia compose Gallery5's "Exintrinsic." Take beauty below the surface and plunge into the artistic world of skin, organ and tissue. "Exintrinisic" runs through May 30 at Gallery5, 200 W. Marshall St. 644-0005 or visit www.gallery5arts.org.
