Unless a weekend of entertaining relatives is somehow involved, residents of tourist locales rarely make time to visit the signature sites that make up their hometowns. Providing the perfect opportunity to behave like a curious out-of-towner and play catch-up on all kinds of did-you-know facts about Richmond is the Anthem Stride Through Time. The 10 kilometer walk highlights such historically significant spots as the Edgar Allan Poe Museum, the Jefferson Hotel, the John Marshall House, the White House of the Confederacy and the State Capitol, with educational re-enactors and free admission for many of the attractions. The event kicks off at the American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar with registration at 7 a.m. $20-$30. For information visit
