What began as a one-time parody of an air guitar competition has turned into something bigger and sexier — or at least goofier. The Air Sex World Championship Tour stops in Richmond on Friday, with comedian Chris Trew as host, the Richmond Comedy Coalition on board — and StyleWeekly Editor Jason Roop ditching any potential for prudishness while serving up commentary as a guest judge. Contestants have as long as three minutes to mime an intimate encounter with an imaginary partner(s). Things get awkward, steamy and hilarious while contestants act out meeting, seduction, foreplay and the big moment itself. And talk about getting around: Air sex has crowned champions in more than 30 cities across North America. This year, a film crew joins in the action for a documentary on the competition. Be part of the film and the laughter when the Air Sex World Championship takes place at Strange Matter on Friday, June 14, at 9 p.m. $8-$10. airsexworld.com.
