Recently named one of the country’s top 10 up-and-coming neighborhoods by USA Today, Church Hill is looking good these days. In celebration, the Church Hill Association will hold its 50th anniversary Holiday Festival this weekend. Things start off Friday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., with a prayer service at St. John’s Church before a candlelight walk of carolers convenes 7:15 at Jefferson Park in Union Hill with bagpipes and drummers leading the way. On Saturday, Dec. 13, the 50th anniversary Holiday Ball takes place at the Conch Republic at Rocketts Landing from 6-11 p.m., with live music, food and prime views of the 22nd annual James River Parade of Lights. Rounding out the festivities Sunday, Dec. 14, is the always popular Church Hill holiday house tour, from noon to 5 p.m. churchhill.org.
