If there’s one thing we all want, it’s sex. And everywhere you turn, there’s something vying for your libido. And a few laughs along the way don’t hurt either. So the Comedy Coalition and the New Movement are teaming up another year for the Air Sex Championships, a cross-country tour — with a film set for release — coming to town Saturday, Aug. 30, at Strange Matter. This is where, you may recall, actor David Arquette showed up as a surprise judge alongside Style Weekly editor Jason Roop last year. Roop will return. But don’t expect Arquette. Let’s just say his whirlwind tour of the River City may have proven too much to handle. In its third year in Richmond, the freewheeling affair features clothed people simulating various acts set to music for your entertainment — a combination of the “pageantry and prestige of sports with the creative arts of storytelling, pantomiming and improvisation.” It’s a subject of infinite interpretations to be explored at great comedic length. Comedian Chris Trew is the host. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $8 in advance, $10 day of show. strangematterrva.com.
