Tea for Two in Ashland

Ami Worthen of Mad Tea Party leaves quite an impression in her eccentrically striped stockings, elegant evening dress and amped-up ukulele. Clearly the instrument belongs off the beach and in the hands of a woman who knows how to bring some flare to the stage. Teaming up with Jason Krekel on the guitar and fiddle, the duo introduces an offbeat blending of genres -- her vocals send up ragtime-infused rock, while his guitar rings in a bluesy, hillbilly tune. Their 2006 album, "Big Top Soda Pop," turned more than a few heads when it made the CMJ's Top 200, and the duo, who recently signed on with Nine Mile Records, will release its newest CD, "Found a Reason," this summer. At Ashland Coffee & Tea Thursday, April 3, at 8 p.m. $15-$20. 798-1702.
