Sweethearts for the Arts, produced by the Richmond Burlesque Revue, is an annual benefit for Art on Wheels, a local nonprofit that takes arts programming into communities with limited access to it. The event unfolds in the Forbidden Forest, a magical winter woodland full of burlesque, music and other surprises. With host Magnolia Jackson Pickett Burnside in her latest incarnation as the Ice Queen of the Forbidden Forest, the show will feature the stage antics of some of East Coast’s biggest names in burlesque, including Deepa de Jour, Deanna Danger, Chris Chaos, Buster Britches, Bitsy Buttons, Sally Von Streusel, Lilly Von Grimm and Melody Magpie. Guests are encouraged to dress up as fairy tale characters or woodland creatures. Sweethearts for the Arts: Forbidden Forest takes place at Gallery5 on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 8 p.m. $30-$60. artonwheels-va.org/sweethearts.
