What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day (whether you love it or hate it) than with burlesque and booze? Sweethearts for the Arts, by the Richmond Institute for Burlesque, is an annual benefit for Art on Wheels, a local nonprofit that takes arts programming into communities with limited access to it. The event’s theme goes back to the days of Prohibition, gangsters and speak-easies. With host Magnolia Jackson Pickett Burnside, Sweethearts for the Arts will feature the stage antics of some of the biggest names in Richmond’s burlesque communities, including Deepa de Jour, Dolli Holiday, the Garter Snaps, Chris Chaos, Indy Go-Go and plenty more. The evening also features musical performances by Allison Self and the High Street Low Lifes. Sweethearts for the Arts takes place at Gallery5 on Friday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. $20-$25. artonwheels-va.org.
