Thanks to Hallmark, Hershey's and your local florist, Valentine's Day is one of those holidays that feels a little forced, as if you really need to set aside a single day out of the year to tell the person you love that you do in fact love them. Kicking such clichAcd notions of courtship to the curb are the lovely ladies of the Sugar Shack Burlesque and their latest variety extravaganza, “Sweethearts for the Arts.” With proceeds helping to fund programming for Art of Wheels, which provides comprehensive art education for the elderly, disabled and homeless, this blush-worthy benefit is sure to feature plenty of scantily clad, dancing, drag-show entertainment, music and romantic raffle prizes from Taboo, Deanna Danger Designs and Bygones. Guests even will have the opportunity to bid on a dinner date with their very own burlesque dancer. Enjoy an evening as St. Valentine intended at Gallery5 on Friday, Feb. 12, at 8 p.m. $15.
