James Taylor is nothing less than a music icon. He's created a standard of quality and consistency that other singer/songwriters can only hope to attain. His songs of love, loss and friendship continue to resonate years after their initial release on AM radio. Taylor has endured years of substance abuse and a failed marriage to Carly Simon and emerged with only his hair follicles missing. He continues to make music that matters, garnering a Grammy for his 2002 effort "October Road." The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member with the strategically placed hat performs at the Genworth Children's Advantage Classic at VCU' s Siegel Center Saturday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50-$125. 828-7267.
