Susan Greenbaum at Hanover Tavern

Carole King's 1971 album, “Tapestry,” was a landmark piece of work for the female singer and songwriter. Despite its simple reliance on piano and gentle drumming, it was — and still is — a record that carries an intensely confessional tone that gives it an emotional weight. Featuring such tracks as “It's Too Late,” “You've Got a Friend” and a stripped-down cover of “(You Make Me Feel Like) a Natural Woman,” this Grammy-winning work is still considered one of the greatest pop albums of all time. In an effort to help raise money for the historic Hanover Tavern, Richmond's own folk songstress Susan Greenbaum will pay tribute to King, playing the entirety of “Tapestry” with her band on Friday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Hanover Tavern. A preshow reception at 5 p.m. includes wine and hors d'oeuvres. $50. 13181 Hanover Courthouse Road. 537-5050, ext. 21. — Mike Hilleary
