Style & Substance: It Takes a Village

A West End venture is offering massage and acupuncture under the same roof. The Wellness Village, which opened June 11, is a combination of businesses -- including Pilates, hypnosis therapy, healing touch and parenting classes — specializing in complementary holistic therapies. The owners want to complement traditional Western medicine, providing medical treatment options that patients might not at first consider.

"What I wanted to bring is holistic practitioners under one roof, in one area so that people could have different health care options to them just in one place," says Paige Beal, the creator of the Wellness Village and owner of the Therapeutic Massage Center.

The environment was important, too, Beale says. "We don't want to have a doctor's office vibe, but we wanted to have a real professional appearance, and I feel like we've accomplished both of those," Beale says. The Wellness Village is located at 1404 Starling Drive, across from Regency Square Mall. 673-2936.
