Strait Up Country

Everything George Strait touches turns platinum. And he's glad to count his successes on his greatest hits album, the multi-platinum CD "50 Number Ones." But Strait must feel like 50 still falls short of the mark. His latest album, "22 More Hits," offers an addendum to the original list; after all, the King of Country can't be expected to close the book after a mere 50 songs. With this newest album Strait has catered to his loving devotees by allowing them to compile the track list, chock-full of fan favorites. Also tossed into the mix is an original, "How 'Bout Them Cowgirls." Although these songs failed to win widespread recognition the first go-round, their sentimentality points to Strait's dedication to the fans, not the charts -- until he puts out "17 Additional Hits I Just Found in My Couch." He plays the Richmond Coliseum Thursday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m. $54.50-$64.50. 262-8100 or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
