"Children of a Lesser God" The Barksdale Theatre presents this Tony Award-winning play detailing the marriage of a hearing-impaired woman and her teacher at a school for the deaf, opening Feb. 6, with showings at 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays, 2 p.m. on Sundays, and select Wednesdays through March 22. "Children's Letters to God" Based on the international best-selling book the Stage 1 Theatre Company takes a candid, musically-inspired look at questioning the almighty, Opening Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. with shows continuing through Feb. 21. 9130 Dickey Drive. 427-1548.

"Stomp" Utilizing things such as tractor tire inner tubes and paint cans, this percussive performance visits the Landmark Theater on Feb. 6 and 7 at 8 p.m. $30-$50. 6 N. Laurel St. 262-8100.

"Uncle Tom: De-constructed" The Conciliation Project presents a dramatic interrogation of the historic legacy of racism in America on Feb. 6 at 8 p.m. at the Firehouse Theatre, with additional showing on Feb. 7 at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., performing as black-faced minstrels and the iconic characters of Uncle Tom, Topsy and Mammy created by Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel. $10-$15. 1609 W. "All My Sons," The Chamberlayne Actors Theatre performs Arthur Miller's play about the consequences and profit of war, continuing through Feb. 7. $15-$20. 319 N. Wilkinson Road. 262-9760.

"The Penny Executive" The Science Museum of Virginia holds performances of this 45-minute educational play about the post-Civil War life of an young African-American girl named Maggie Walker who would break many racial barriers in Richmond. Performances take place Saturdays and Sundays at 1 and 3 p.m., and Thursdays and Fridays at 10 and 11:30 a.m. through March 1. $3. 2500 W. Broad St. 864-1400.

"The P.I.C.: Prison Industrial Complex" The Conciliation Project explores through poetic drama, song and story the convergence of race, class and gender within the U.S. prison industry at the Firehouse Theatre at 8 p.m. through Feb. 5. $10-$15. 1609 W. Broad St. 355-2001.

"Of Mice and Men" The Swift Creek Mill Theatre presents a dramatic adaptation of John Steinbeck's Depression-era story of two wandering farmhands, with performances continuing through March 14. 17401 Jefferson Davis Highway. For schedule and ticket information call 748-5203.

"Sideways Stories from Wayside School" Theatre IV performs a family-friendly adaptation of this Newberry Medal-winning series by Louis Sachar continuing through Feb. 15 at the Empire Theatre with shows Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7 and 14, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. $17-$22. 114 W.
