Southeast Engine at the Triple

Supposedly, when Athens, Ohio, quartet Southeast Engine hunkered down to produce its latest album, “From the Forest to the Sea,” it did so in an 1800s school auditorium. With the only interruptions caused by the building's strange noises and resident bats, the band recorded all 12 tracks live to analog tape in five days. A work of ghostly Americana populated by soulful characters, biblical references, wilderness imagery and longing hope, the boys of Southeast Engine are certainly a group to pay attention to as the year rolls along. They play the Triple on Sunday, April 19, at 9 p.m. $5. 359-7777.— Mike Hilleary
