Soul Provided at Capital Ale House

The Soul Providers are the type of band you'd expect to see in a honky-tonk with peanut shells on the floor and chicken wire on the stage. Fortunately for dancing patrons and stage-diving lead singers, the Capital Ale House in Richmond lacks both amenities. What this seven-member band doesn't lack is gut-bucket blue-eyed soul and gritty blues sounds that have kept Richmonders grooving for years. The group bills itself as the city's premier soul band, a generous subtitle that demands an evidentiary hearing. The proceeding starts Saturday, Dec. 29, at 10 p.m. $6. 780-ALES.
