Son Sounds Off to Tale of “Woo-Hoo”

As the oldest son of the late “Boo” Walke (“The Hoots Heard 'Round the World,” Cover Story, Dec. 16), let me set some facts straight! My Dad never signed his rights away to “Woo-Hoo,” as some of the others did! He thought the whole thing sounded like a lie, and it turned out to be just that. Jess Duboy did not instruct my Dad on what chords to play. That was pure “Boo” Walke, as he had more talent than everyone else in the band put together. “Boo” Walke was one of the biggest local names in Richmond, and had a steady sold-out gig at the S&S Club/Don's Place from 1966 to 1983. My father drove a truck for a living to take care of his family, but music was his passion. It's a shame that my father isn't here to set the record straight, but I got his back always!
