Given our recent stretch of nonsweaty weather, it’s difficult to believe that it’s still technically summertime. To be fair, it’s the end of the season, but the lack of stupefying heat is mildly disconcerting to those of us well versed in the seasonal oppression of Richmond’s late-August sun. To mark the change, Deep Groove Records holds Solstice Soul, a DJ night at Ipanema with Florida Man and C. Pity on the celebratory turntables Thursday, Aug. 29. With a vast menagerie of vinyl stimulations between them, the tunes these two purveyors of culture spin will cover an impressive expanse of melodic territory from all eras of recorded sound. And if that doesn’t sound like a good time, I don’t know what does. The music starts at 10 p.m. Admission is free. deepgroovevinyl.com.
