A Little Night Music

Shoppers at Nordstrom may recall Daryl Emerson's lively performances on the grand piano. Now he stars at The Piano Club, a new steak and seafood house at 7801 W. Broad St., performing Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

Transforming a former pizza parlor, owner Alex Shakeri created a white-tablecloth setting for 100, serving lunch and dinner daily and featuring fine-dining specials and grilled fare. The restaurant opened last month to an enthusiastic clientele nostalgic for supper clubs with live music and classic menus. 755-7195.

Manna From Downtown

A reader raves about Manna Café in the Bank of America building downtown. Chef/owner James Lee serves breakfast specials, soups, grilled sandwiches, salads, smoothies, pastries and coffees weekdays at 1111 E. Main St. Seating indoors and out captures the street scene, and Lee's work ethic is also in evidence. The reader notes his "Korean culture of responsibility and discipline, loyalty and respect for customers." 644-1082.

Take Your Honk Elsewhere
